Installing this in a 2016 5.7L Hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) requires planning because the battery is tucked under the passenger seat and if you've ever looked under the hood of a WK2 with a Hemi there's not much additional room for anything, even the battery.
The Problem: The kit includes high-quality copper power lines that look like they're right between 6 and 8 gauge (about 3.6mm Diameter), but they are only about 20 to 24 inches long. While that works for most engine-bay installations, it won't reach a WK2 battery under the passenger seat.
The Overkill Solution: I swapped them for 0-gauge Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA). I Even made a custom grommet to get through the firewall with those huge cables. Stepping up to massive 0-gauge ensures I'm moving just as much "juice" as the 6-8-gauge copper wires that comes with the kit, even over the long distance to the battery box under the pass seat.
Technical Specs: The Control Hub
The control box features a 1-to-1 fuse-to-button ratio. Looking inside the hub (see photos), the 8-button version features 8 automotive-style fuses: (2) 30A, (2) 20A, (2) 15A, and (2) 10A Fuses.
Manual Note: The instructions in the box are for the 4/6-button versions. The 8-button logic is similar but not identical, so keep that in mind during the install.
The Master Plan: 8 Buttons, 0 Left Over
I've already accounted for every single button on this controller with a massive set of MICTUNING gear and custom electronics:
Main Pods: Two sets of K8 Light Pods (with the flowing halos).
Ditch Lights: A set of K6 Driving Lights (270° side-shooters).
Front Bar: Lower grill light bar.
Underglow: A 16-pod Q2 Color Zone Rock Light kit.
Rocker Lights: 3-strip Red LED Rocker lights mounted to the pinch weld to reflect off the Chrome Nerf bars.
Audio Trigger: Using one button as a remote turn-on for my under-seat sub and 100W RMS Class D amp and Marine 6.5in round speakers I added in the tailgate.
Air Horn: Wiring an air horn under the back of the Jeep using the Momentary Mode.
Interior/Accent: Interior dash/door trim kits
And a full-length Hood LED strip tied into the DRL circuit and K6 & K8 Halos.
Pro-Level Mounting & Stealth Antenna
The "Front-Exit" Trick: I mounted the box on the factory fuse box lid with the wires exiting the front. This gives enough slack to use the harness to prop the lid open against the fender for maintenance and prevents the wires from being pinched at the rear hinge.
Stealth Antenna: I tucked the antenna under the plastic wiper cowl directly beneath a ventilation slot. It's 100% hidden but still pulls 130 feet of range through the slotted plastic.
Dash Mat Hack: The "hook" side of the provided Velcro sticks perfectly to my polyester dash mat. It's now rock-solid right above the 8.4-inch Uconnect screen.
Final Verdict
The MICTUNING MS-W 8-Gang is professional-grade gear. Between the four control phases (Toggle, Momentary, Flash, Strobe) and the massive range, it's one of the only ways to manage all my custom lighting without drilling holes in the dash or cluttering the cabin with wires. Definitely worth going with the wireless setup. MICTUNING= PROFESSILNAL QUALITY. -from amazon
These rock lights are a bit different than the typical small rectangular rock lights. These square lights have a bolt hole in the center to secure the light and can be mounted in the wheel wells, on the bottom of the vehicle or on the frame. What also sets these light apart are not only are they a bright white for on or offroad use, but can change the color of the lights with a separate lens cover. The lens cover not only change the color but adds a level of protection too. The light do not come with the full wiring so either buy that separate or just daisy chain the wiring along the frame rails. -from amazon
Awesome switch panel! Got this mounted and wired for my ground tackle and backing lights on my fifthwheel. This makes backing in at night easier as I can turn lights on from the cab of my truck and on the specific side or back if needed. The backlighting and colors are great and make it easy on the eyes at night. Functions better than I expected. -from amazon
Lights are top notch. Clean install with a single wire that comes out of the controller instead of multiple pigtails on my previous lights.
The app is a little confusing but manageable. Just wish there was a timer schedule on the app where the lights would come on and off on a schedule like on another brand that I had.
Installed 24 lights under my Freightliner Toter rig they work great are bright and ease of install was nice. High quality and they work well. I used a silicone to adhere them to the frame and they are holding strong. I used a 2100 lighting silicone from plash lights
Great customer service too
